Our Work With Peppe Pistacchio
The global turnover of gelato surpassed €15 billion in 2016 with an annual growth of 4% in previous years, as a result, Europe has over 60 000 gelaterias. Peppe Pistacchio is an established brand of authentic Italian gelato and began its path to success in the late 1800s. Drawing from significant insight, and a passion to bring the best quality gelato to the South African market, Peppe has now arrived in South Africa and it was up to us to help craft the Peppe story in a way that is true to its heritage but relevant to a niche South African target market.

The Challenge
Peppe Pistacchio had an existing brand identity but required refinement, as well as consideration of its application across South African stores. We were also tasked to consider its digital presence as the brand entered the South African market. The challenge was to design and develop a fresh brand identity, staying true to its roots, whilst conveying its benefits.
The Solution
We began by selecting an aesthetically appealing colour palette with a range of colors that resemble the vibrancy expressed through every mouth-watering lick of authentic Italian gelato.
We then consolidated a photography style and refined the brand logo. In addition to refining the typeface of the logo in order to make it more legible, we created a brand icon that could translate well across digital applications. We then extrapolated the refined identity across multiple applications, from the counter layout to signage, coffee bags, cups, and staff uniforms. All touchpoints came together to speak of heritage coupled with pure indulgence.
We designed and developed a user-friendly, attention-grabbing, and informative website that would house promotional content, recipes, and product announcements. Our ongoing work for Peppe Pistacchio includes brand collateral design, as well as organic social media content generation and targeted advertising.
